Jackson talked about the parental and children relationship that all of us have from the views of the parents, child and the bible.

POP CULTURE

This relationship had no respect and they were always fighting.
- Hiro and his father form the 'Heros' drama series
They relationship was protective and disciplined but yet soft.
- Tai Long, Master Shifu and Panda Po (Kungfu Panda)
They did not have a blood relation but still one that is like family relations, one like a teacher and guidarnt

THE BIBLE
we looked at Ephesians 6:1-4, Children and Parents
'1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."^[a] 4Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.'

We must know what the lord wants us to do as children, then we can follow and obey him. Even if our parents are in Christians, we should still follow it as we are in the Lord.

Deuteronomy5 are the 10 Commandments that God gave us.
The first 4 commandments are about God,
the next few are about family,
the remainder move on to the relationships we have with our neighbours.
This shows that we should get ourselves right with God first, only then can we get ourselves right with our family, then our neighbours.

1. Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22:1-9)
Issac was Abraham's son, given to him at old age, but yet the Lord asked him as an offering. Abraham trusted and listened, Issac listened to his father, though puzzled and questioning, he still listened to his father and followed him, even to the point he was to be sacrificed.
2. King Saul and Jonathan (1 Samuel 13-14, 20, 31)
Saul was the first King of Israel, but he failed. Jonathan was a man of God, but his father wasn't. Yet he trusted and stayed by his father and was killed by Philistines. He knew the Lord was with him and was willing to die.
3. Joseph, Mary and Jesus (Luke, John)
Luke 2:49 '49"Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" 50But they did not understand what he was saying to them. 51Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. '
Luke 8:19-21 '19Now Jesus' mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you." 21He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice."'
John 2:1-5 ' 1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, 2and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine." 4"Dear woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied, "My time has not yet come." 5His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."'
Now think. Was Jesus being rude? No he wasn't. Jesus made every effort to explain what was happening. It was the way he spoke. He obeyed his parents to the end. Jesus loved Mary so much that even at His death, he was thinking of his mother. (John 19:25-17)

It is hard to find the right balance as our heavenly parents and our earthly parents.
How God loves us and how our parents love us are different, but they are humans and not perfect in their love. Talk to them.

An email to a stranger

I recently received an email accidentally sent to me from someone who I don't know. Basically, it was a request for help because she felt very desperate and anxious about a particular situation, and felt worried that her prayers would go unanswered (or not answered in time). I knew it wasn't a prank mail because I saw a mutual friend in the email address list so she must have accidentally copied my email address from an earlier email sent out by my friend.

I replied to the email anyway, and here it goes:

Hello _____

How is your situation now? Actually I have no idea who you are but I'll be praying for you. All I can do for now is offer a reminder of the oft quoted verse:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

As for giving it all to God, I also have struggled with that (and still do). But I figure that, the wisest thing to do really is to give everything to God. God is supreme, so things will turn out His way within His own timing whether we like it or not, or whether we choose to follow or not. Still, God does everything for our ultimate good for He loves us.

Here's something from the sermon on the mount:
"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" - Matthew 7:9-11

What is worship?

I thought that Sandeep's talk on worship last Saturday really rocked so I'm gonna write a summary down here so that we'll have some retention on what was preached. I'm afraid I might not cover all the points because I didn't really take down notes during the talk. I only took notes after the talk and I'll just share whatever I have:

What worship is about
Worship is not just about singing songs on Sunday mornings or during YM. It's all about letting God take his rightful place in our lives - as the top priority. That's living a lifestyle of worship. What we have on Sunday service is simply an overflow of the worship in our lives for the past 6 days of the week.

Isaiah 6:1-8
There are 4 parts to worship:
- Feeling the presence of God, knowing how big God is. (Isaiah 6:1-4)
- Seeing one's sinful self in relation to God's holiness (Isaiah 6:5)
- Repentance (Implied in Isaiah 6:5-7)
- "Here am I, send me!" (Committing to God) (Isaiah 6:8)

Romans 12:1-2
The following points on worship is from Romans 12:1-2
- God is the object of worship
- God defines worship
- Only God has the right to evaluate worship

I hope that this outline perhaps reminds you of something that God spoke to you through the talk last Saturday.

Fasting

Hi everyone

Since we recently had a sermon on fasting, I thought that it might be helpful to blog on fasting.

There are 3 main types of fasting:

The Normal Fast. There is only one fast command in the Bible found in Leviticus 16:29;23:32, and that was the fast on the Day of Atonement. This fast was from sunset of one day to sunset of the next.

The Partial Fast. The emphasis here is on restriction of diet. For example, we learnt that Daniel took only vegetables and water (Daniel 1:15) when we did the season on OT characters.

The Radical Fast. An example of a radical fast can be found with Esther and her household. Esther decided to fast for three days abstaining from both "food and water" both "day and night" (Esther 4:15-16). A radical fast can be harmful to your health and in most cases should not exceed three days.

Ok, so why fast?

Biblical fasting is for communication and relationship with God. Fasting puts things in proper focus. It is a physical way of saying, "Food and the things of this life are not as important to me now as _____." In the Bible, fasting also always comes with prayer.

During YCom meeting last Sunday, UYH happened to drop by and shared something: when fasting, we cannot expect communication and relationship with God to improve when there is sin in our lives. Isaiah 58:3-4 pretty much says it all:

3 'Why have we fasted,' they say,
'and you have not seen it?

Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?'
"Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please
and exploit all your workers.

4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,
and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today
and expect your voice to be heard on high.

Synopsis

Not many teens can relate to the death of a close friend or family member. When you're young it’s easy to think you're invincible or that, at least, death is far away. But with what high-schooler Jason Reynolds (Kevin Downes, The Moment After) has been going through, he is faced with the reality that nothing is permanent. His best friend Matt (played by David White of Mercy Streets) dies one day after battling leukemia. But just before his death he leaves a cryptic note for Jason: “don’t forget my Friend's love”.

The pieces of the puzzle fall together for Jason as he is taken on a strange journey. First he visits a place where each sin every person ever commits is recorded for use in the courtroom. In a courtroom he visits next the eternal fate of each person is decided upon: life with God in heaven or eternal separation? (Effectively dispelling the notion that good works are enough to get you to heaven.) This scene, and the scene following where Jesus is crucified, make the message of the gospel come alive and clear.

At the conclusion of the film we find that Jason has a clearer picture than ever before on what “the most important thing in life” is (a school presentation he was preparing for, now an opportunity for him to share his new faith in Jesus). The Crossing deals specifically with mankind's sin, the consequences of that sin, God’s solution, and salvation through faith.

The producer says of this film: “As Jason comes to grips with the realities of life and the consequences of sin, viewers are challenged to answer for themselves the question of life's ultimate priority. An excellent program for outreach events, for evangelistic invitations in your youth group or in homes, or to inspire believers to share their faith. Honored as the best evangelistic film of the decade, it clearly convicts teenagers of their need for Christ."

Two days. We can do so much in 48+ hours. God can do so much. Imagine what He could do with the rest of your life. God provided the great city of Nineveh the chance to repent, and in the same way His grace through Jesus Christ offers us the greatest gift. "For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation."(Luke 11:30) We are redeemed by His gracefully provided sacrifice, and are now given the promise of the Holy Spirit

If we can even begin to grasp the great extent of God's grace, how amazing it must be to be filled and overflowing with streams of living water (of the Holy Spirit), do we not proclaim that God and God alone has changed our lives? He has given us love, redemption, assurance, and has promised to all the nations that "whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." So if we enjoy the good gift that our Father gives us, should we not go forth and share this good news!

(I) marriage

origin of marriage: Gen 2:24
-implies monogamy! because there's only ONE eve.
-examples of polygamy: Abraham, David and Solomon
-customs: to carry down the family line. if not, a servant was asked to sleep with the husband for a heir
divorce: not permissible if (Deut 22:13-19 and Deut 22)
also refer to Deut 22 and 24
in NT: divorce and remarriage is considered adultery

(II) circumcision

OT vs NT: we are not under the law anymore and don't have to sacrifice burnt offerings

think about the scenario about a baby. you tell him not to, you turn your head and he'll be doing it. why? to teach him? well did he learn? so what is the point of telling him not to when you know he will? i tell you, it is LOVE. yes, LOVE. when you're overflowing with love, you want to pour it out, because you've so much of it.

are the Israelites still God's chosen people?
the church is the new Israel?? the faithful ones who are Abraham's children?? the remnant Jews?? or are the Israelites still the chosen people??

what is the one thing that the Israelites failed in?
the Israelites failed to tell the world about God. the next generation that grows up forgets to talk about it and soon, it is lost.

earlier we had yihui to lead worship with songs, 'Majesty', 'God of Wonders' and 'Big'. the worship was one that was praising God, anointing and thanking him for all the works he has done in our lives, worshipping him freely..

presently we're having 'Bare Your Sole' which is thinking about the discussion questions and sharing it in the small groups...

Q1: Why did i come from camp??
Q2: If i had 5mins to talk to someone and lead him/her to Christ. What would it be like?

so i'm off to think about the discussion questions..

juz remembered something i received in my email that made me think and all...this story was shared by aunty lucy yeo during the prayer meeting i was at yesterday about her stay in australia ..and i hope that it touches you even if it doesn't in a spiritual way...

Lucy was given the task of taking care of a garden. She was trying to pull out a very stubborn weed when she had a bad fall and hit her head. After this incident, she dared not try to pull out the weeds anymore. The weeds grew and hindered the growth of the flowers the owner had planted.

When the owner returned, he said he was very disappointed and that he would hire another gardener but that Lucy would have to pay for it. Lucy asked that she be given another chance to care for the garden again. This time, she prayed to the Lord and asked him for protection, and carefully and cautiously started pulling at the weeds and was able to do it. As she pulled out more weeds, the more she rejoiced and was glad to see the garden growing well again after some time.

The garden can be compared to people or whatever the Lord has entrusted us with. The weeds are like problems, obstacles or hurts. We tend to give up when we meet seemingly insurmountable (something that cannot be overcome as told by www.thefreedictionary.com) problems. Success is to continue to try again despite initial or even repeated failure, but we need to turn to God and ask for His help, and also have the faith to believe in Him, that we are able to do what needs to be done, through Christ who gives us strength.

A missionary was preaching in the village market, and some of the people were laughing at him because he was not a very handsome man. He took it for a time, and then he said to the crowd, "It is true that I do not have beautiful hair, for I am almost bald. Nor do I have beautiful teeth, for they are really not mine; they were made by the dentist. I do not have a beautiful face, nor can I afford to wear beautiful clothes. But this I know: I have beautiful feet! God tells me so!" He then quoted the verses found in Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:15.

And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Here, Paul presents evangelism in reverse chronological order. First, God sends the preacher who preaches the gospel, the sinner hears, believes in his heart and calls upon the Name of the Lord. The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ's Word is preached, there's nothing to listen to. We who are saved can thank God for sending someone with the message of good news our way, and we "owe" the gospel to others who have not heard (see Romans 1:15-16 where we learn that Paul was a debtor!).

What about beautiful feet? In the Contemporary English Version, verse 15 reads "And how can anyone tell them without being sent by the Lord? The Scriptures say it is a beautiful sight to see even the feet of someone coming to preach the good news."

Feet also speak of preparation. Remember our study of the book of Ephesians? Ephesians 6:15 goes, "and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace." (NIV)

Snow-capped mountains in the near distance, the ocassional flock of migrating birds taking their place in the clear skies, picture perfect fields of tranquil white, every passing car on the overhead highway as if starring in a chevrolet advert, driving along the Canadian roads on the first day when we touched down from Calgary making our way up to Panorama was quite an experience. (For the rest of us who are blessed to have experienced more than humidity, rain and perspiration, you would know :p)

So while we were in the car, my mum made a remark about the beauty of the scenery only to have my dad comment something along the lines of how we'd get bored of it after awhile because it was going to be the same view for the next few days.
True enough, by the end of that car ride, it just didn't have the same effect anymore. I know that's how it is with me sometimes in my own walk with God. How quite often after he blesses me with something amazing, it doesn't take long before my interest and excitement dies out.

While the beautiful days don't last, it helps that i enjoy them while they do, and cling onto them so they help me look ahead when it gets rocky. (Like how i miss snow now! Haha)
Now that camp is over, christmas is over and the new year awaits, i guess for me there's a reminder to be reminded. Constant reflection of His goodness reminds us that He has been faithful and so will continue to be, driving us forward in that walk to be faithful ourselves.

Cheers to a new year, it's going to be one heck of a ride! ;)

I went to a rehearsal yesterday afternoon and realised that this is going to be a play unlike any other our Church has ever done before. The sheer length and complexity of the play makes it a first for ASPC.

There are so many people involved, both as cast and crew. The stage, costumes and props look amazing and very professionally done. The cast have worked exceedingly hard, devoting a lot of time to rehearsals and committing the script and songs to memory. Even children from the Children Ministry are involved. Everyone has been working really hard on this, and it would simply not do justice to the tremendous amount of energy and effort spent if majority of the audience are simply our own church members.

It is not too late to invite your friends. I just came back from a dinner with some former classmates and successfully asked a friend to come and see the musical. It went like this:

"My church is having a musical this Christmas. Wanna come?"

"Ok."

It's that simple.

Post Camp Reflections

Hi everyone

Due to military duties, I won't be there at the Afterglow this Saturday so I will share my reflections right here.

The main point that stood out for me is that making a difference is all about impacting others. That may seem obvious, but the implications of this point is huge to me. It means that I'll have to take risks and do things that I will normally not be willing to do. Things that may seem malu or completely out of character for me. It could be calling a friend whom I know has backslid in his walk with God, or simply inviting a friend to Church. It could also be stepping up to serve in an area of ministry when having too little time because of Army is such a tempting excuse to use. No matter what it is, I now know that I must put all my reservations aside if I truly want to make a difference with this life. It is only then will I know that I have The X Factor in my life.

The ym prayer meeting yesterday was quite enjoyable. I'm never able to discipline myself to spend more than 10mins really praying at home, so the meetings at tani are really quite a welcome retreat from the daily grind. Praying with other "siblings in Christ" is a lot easier than trying to focus while sitting on a bed just a few steps away from the tv/computer, afraid that one of the family might pass by, catching me in such an "awkward" situation and at the same time trying not to fall asleep. It's strange how prayer, sit down-desperate-cryfromomyheart prayer, seems so unnatural in daily life. But if i'm to prepare for Eternity, i better start somewhere...

Why do you want eternal life?

I think the question that Jasmine asked Sam Chua is so interesting that it warrants a whole new post, rather than just a comment to that post.

Why do you want eternal life? What's so great about life that you want to have it forever? Isn't it better to just die? Everything stops and you don't have to care about anything anymore because you just don't exist anymore. Well most of you will see the error in this line of reasoning. You don't just fail to exist. That is not the reality of the situation. The Bible tells us we either go to Heaven or hell.

Because I don't want to go to hell?
So is it sound to say that we want eternal life because we don't want to go to hell? Hell no! It's like saying you support Chelsea FC just because you think all other football teams suck. In that case the focus of your concern would be all other football teams, and not Chelsea. Similarly, saying that we want eternal life to avoid hell means you are more concerned about self-preservation, more concerned about avoiding the painful consequences.

Because I want to go to heaven?
The argument above then begs the question: Is it correct to want eternal life so that we can go to heaven? Well it depends on what you want to go to heaven for. You've probably been told that in heaven, we will have new bodies, no sadness, no sickness and will even get to see our Christian relatives and friends who have passed away. If that's the reason why you want to eternal life, then you want it for the wrong reasons because your motive is to get incentives.

Because of what John 17:3 says!
If the reason for wanting eternal life is not supposed to be to avoid punishment in hell, or to gain incentives in heaven, then what should the reason be? The answer is in John 17:3, which says, "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (NIV.) We should want eternal life to spend eternity with God, to worship Him in joy and fellowship. If we want eternal life for any other thing that it brings, then we probably won't get either.

Living Out your Calling

Hey all...just here to do a summary on the teaching tat we had about living out your calling done on 27oct by betty's friend, Joseph..

basically..always remember this fact: EVERYONE HAS A CALLING..
no matter whether you're big or small, strong or weak...you HAVE a calling..
but are you willing to find out what you calling is??

1. Do you dare to take the risk to:
- go out and make a difference?
- desire to change people's lifes?
- want to go out and make a difference?

2. Can you take suffering that comes along with your calling?
Joseph brought in the story about Joseph in the bible in Genesis 50:15-21 where joseph assures his brothers tat he does not bear a grudge for them. what happened is that joseph's father doted more on him tat made his brothers jealous of him..they plotted and sold him to merchants who then sold him to egyptians.

Q: God gave Joseph a dream. Why all the ups and downs? Why make it so hard for him to achieve it? (he took 25 years..)
A: God wanted to develop his character, to train him to look at his life before others, and to be a godly man in an ungodly culture...

just think of it using an anology of a baby giraffe..

Joseph told us that struggles come with 2 reasons.
1 - test / strengthen your faith
do you want to be a chicken wing or a marshmallow?

you know...i think tat god really works in wonderful ways..i mean..i was suppose to serve last sunday in the worship team...and i also had a gig at novena square la..so i was like feeling torn apart...guessed tat i would have to rush down from novena to sim for band prep..but guess wad..during thur's acappella prep wif the others...we were told told tat the performance was postponed a week!! haha..cool man..guess god heard my prayers!! haha...

i was also sick on thu..den i was quite sad and worried cos whenever i fall sick..it's either a one day thing or a week thing...and i had a feeling tat it would be a week thing cos i was all woosy and sneezing..my eyes were all teary and puffy..oh man...but guessed wad!! god made me well on friday!! i mean the minute i got back on thur i conked out on my bed...no words man...didn't even feel like having a shower la...haha...but god delivered me...

SOMETHING COOL THAT HAPPENED
den sat..al tan shared about his invitation to 2 people for a christmas party tat turned into 5 ppl coming!! haha..wa a cool and great sharing la..haha..den back up for the worship team tat week was like only aunty genin and i..betty was sick and wen had something to attend to..guess wad!!! 3 of the backup trainees came!! so they were given mics to sing along!!! guess wad aunty genin noticed!! 2+3=5!! juz like al tan's sharing!! haha..cool man..

Youth Camp Theme Unveiled!

Dec Camp Theme was finally unveiled on Youth Sunday! In case you missed it, here's the gist of the what the camp theme is about:

X-men, Xbox, X-files, Zone X, Mac OS X... so many X words in our world today! Hang on... have you ever considered one of the first X-words ever made: X'mas. For some strange reason, some fella long ago decided that Christmas would be abbreviated as X'mas. Guess that means X = Christ. Hence, the X Factor is the Christ Factor!

We often say that someone or something has the X Factor when it's clearly different and stands out from the crowd. Indeed, when we have the Christ Factor in us, we stand out from the crowd. The Bible calls us to be the salt and light of the Earth (Matt 5:13-16) and to shine like stars (Phil 2:15)!

So mark your calendars and get ready for the highlight of the year! Start thinking of friends to invite too. We'll be giving out postcards soon for you to invite your friends. This camp is something you and your friends can look forward to at the end of a crazy school year.

Introduction to Apologetics

For the past 2 weeks, we have been dealing with conversational apologetics, so I thought that it might be apt to post an entry on the topic of apologetics.

What the Bible Says about Apologetics

The word "apologetics" comes from the Greek word "apologia," pronounced, "ap-ol-og-ee’-ah." It means, "a verbal defense." It is used eight times in the New Testament: Acts 22:1; 25:16; 1 Cor. 9:3; 2 Cor. 7:11; Phil. 1;7; 2 Tim. 4:16, and 1 Pet. 3:15. But it is the last verse that is most commonly associated with Christian apologetics.

"....but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence" (1 Pet. 3:15, NASB).

The Lord has called every Christian to be ready to make a defense of his faith. That means you are called to give reasonable answers to questions regarding Christianity. Now, this does not mean that you must have a Ph.D. or that you have to go to seminary. But it does mean that you should be willing to at least give an answer for your beliefs. If you find you cannot, then prayerfully take it to God and start studying.

What do you study?

You could pray and ask the Lord to teach you what He wants you to know. Ask Him to give you a burden for something to learn. It doesn’t matter what it is. Just ask. Whatever you become interested in is what you should learn about because it is probably something God wants you to know for later use. It is like having tools in a tool shed. The more you have, the more you can accomplish.

Another way to find out what God wants you to study is through circumstances. Perhaps a classmate may ask you how you know the Bible is true. If you don’t have a answer, pray, and start researching. Go to a Christian bookstore and get some books on the subject. Talk to one of the pastors. You’ll learn.

Sometimes God will make a verse or subject in the Bible "come alive" to you and it might strike you as odd or interesting. You could get a commentary and read up on it. You could ask others about it. In so doing, you are preparing yourself through learning to be ready to answer questions and point people to the truth. You'd be surprised how many details God can use to help you in your witness, even through those apparently odd times when verses suddenly "come alive."

As a concrete step forward to building my 'tool shed' (see para 5), I will be attending a conference by Creation Ministries International, titled "Trusting the Bible in an age of Science and Technology". It is a series of presentations running from 4 to 6 Oct. These are the topics covered:

Glorifying God through the scientific study of His creation.
Refuting the false claims of evolutionism.
Arming and equipping believers to impact today’s secularized culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Giving answers to common questions such as: Where did the ‘races’ come from? What about Cain’s wife? Noah’s Flood? How do dinosaurs fit into the Bible?

If anyone is interested in going to the conference, please contact me (Alvin Tan). Please note that this conference is not a YM activity, but something that you could attend if you want to learn more and reconcile what the Bible says and what you learn from the Science textbooks.

I'll get down to the main body of UYH's message later. For now I just want to repeat something that he said at the end of the message.

Are you sure that you're going to heaven?
Recall Ps Andrew's sermon last week, about building on a rock foundation. He preached on Matt 7:21-29, and how the assurance of salvation we have in Christ cannot be taken for granted; we must do God's will to enter the kingdom of God.

v21-23: [Jesus says] "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' "

UYH reminded us of this, and supplemented it with this verse, Galatians 5:21b, in which Paul says:
"I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this [i.e. that whole long list of the acts of sinful nature] will not inherit the kingdom of God."

What are you doing with the acts of sinful nature that God has revealed to you?
Will you actively seek and desire to become more like Christ, or are you just going to leave it be?
Do you think you are going to enter the kingdom of God?

I don't know about you, but thinking about my own answer to these questions scares me. I know that though it's a struggle for us to overcome our sinful nature in order to grow in Christ, God ultimately looks at the heart; if we try, surely He will honour our desire and give us the grace to become more like Jesus. If we don't bother trying, well... 4hou 3guo 4bu 1kan 4she 3xiang.

Here are verse references for the remaining 6 aspects of the fruit of the spirit covered during Saturday's session. I encourage us all to meditate upon the verses; you don't have to do it all at once, you can do a part a day, or whatever that suits you.. The idea is to examine your own life and consider what is lacking/what needs to be done away with.

Prayer Teachings

We'll be having one session of prayer teaching (2nd June) and then a 2 hour prayer meeting the following week (9th June) in Tani!
The first prayer teaching is on the 2nd of June, taught by Aunty Susan. There'll be a video presentation, followed by Aunty Susan talking about the importance and need for prayer. We'll end with group discussions :)
The 2 hour prayer session is a YM session for the 24/365 prayer item that our church is participating in, so it would be held at 24 Jalan Tani :) You are encouraged to sign up for a seperate slot in your DP groups!

yes, we know that some YMers find talks boring and dreary, but face it man, we all need to know these stuff and its essential to our growth! so keep your ears and heart open for the valuable teachings!

and yes, there will be the practical aspects so its not 1.5 hours of talking! be sure to take these lessons home and practice em! :D
